Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank Charitable Foundation awards $28,219 in grants to 84 local school teachers.
On Tuesday, January 10, the Cape Cod Five Cents Savings Bank Charitable Foundation Trust held its annual Mini-Grant reception for local teachers receiving awards for this school year. The reception was held at the Hidden Cove Restaurant located within the Cape Cod Regional Technical High School where the Foundation’s Chairman, Dorothy A. Savarese welcomed the award recipients. Checks were presented to 84 teachers representing 43 schools on the Cape and Islands.
Since its inception in 2000, the Mini-Grant program has provided over $187,000 to assist and recognize teachers for creating exceptional projects that inspire learning in classrooms throughout the Cape and Islands. This support is used to defray the cost of materials and resources not normally available through regular channels of school funding. Teachers from all grade levels on the Cape and Islands can submit their applications during the fall and learn if their project has been selected to receive an award in early December.
As noted by Dorothy Savarese, “Over the years, it has been especially rewarding for the Foundation to participate with so many dedicated teachers, and have them share with us such a long list of inspirational projects. There’s no doubt in my mind that these teachers are performing an incredibly valuable service for our community.”
This year’s 84 projects included some of the following titles: “Kindness Challenge, Imagination Exploration, Science and Engineering, Sing Your Way through Phonics, Image Writing, and Historiography.”
