Cape Cod 5 Educational Mini-Grants provide eligible public school teachers with grants of up to $500 for classroom projects, learning experiences, and educational resources. Since the program began in 2000, Cape Cod 5 has awarded more than 2,300 mini-grants totaling over $1 million. During the 2025-2026 school year, grants supported teachers at 82 schools across the communities that we serve.

Public school classroom teachers working in schools on Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket or in Plymouth County are eligible to apply.

We welcome proposals for projects and resources that:

  • Create meaningful and engaging learning experiences
  • Encourage curiosity, creativity, and student participation
  • Address classroom or student need
  • Have the potential to benefit a classroom or broader group of learners

We know that every classroom is different. Applications may include both imaginative new projects and practical resources that support student learning.

In addition to the standard mini-grants, the review committee will select five standout projects to receive grants of $1,000.

What happens after I apply?

All applicants will be notified of a decision by the end of November 2026. Award checks will be made payable to each recipient’s school. Grant recipients will receive additional information about award distribution and the Educational Mini-Grants celebration planned for February 2027.

Criteria

Teachers throughout Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, Nantucket and Plymouth County who are employed as a classroom instructor at any public school are eligible to apply. 

Traditionally, we have prioritized imaginative projects that foster creative thinking and have broad impact. We understand that the past few years have posed unique challenges in education and will be using more flexible criteria in considering applications. However the top five most creative projects (as identified by our review committee) will receive $1,000!

Selection Process

All applicants will be notified of a decision by the end of November 2026. Grants will be distributed by a check made payable to the school available for pick up during our Educational Mini-Grants celebration in February 2027.
