Hyannis, MA – Cape Cod 5 recently held a series of socially distanced events with Santa, who greeted and collected letters from community members, utilizing the Bank’s drive-up windows across the region. The event was held alongside the Bank’s annual food, toy and donation drive, through which over 500 food items and 175 toys were collected for local families in need this holiday season.
“As a local business and corporate citizen, Cape Cod 5 is committed to assisting our neighbors in need this holiday season and all throughout the year, while adapting our annual traditions to help keep each other safe and healthy,” said Dorothy A. Savarese, Chair and CEO of Cape Cod 5. “We understand how difficult this year has been for our customers and community members and hope that these safely-distanced holiday events and initiatives help provide some relief and happiness during this challenging time.”
The food items and toys were donated at collection bins in the vestibules of Cape Cod 5 Banking Centers by customers, members of the community and employees. Contributed items will be delivered to community food pantries and human need organizations and then distributed to local families. Monetary donations are also being accepted through links from the Bank’s website.
Cape Cod 5 also once again served as a lead sponsor of the 25th Annual Stuff a Bus event, hosted by WCOD, which took place from Friday, December 11, through Sunday, December 13. Nearly 29,000 toys were collected this year for the United States Marines' Toys for Tots program to make the holidays brighter for local families as part of this annual event.
